I want to thank you for being one of the Sponsors of the Fossil Fuel Divestment bill, S198. I feel strongly that fossil fuel divestment is one important way we can act to mitigate climate change and you have done that by signing on to this bill.

 

I also want to urge you to do everything in your power to help get this bill passed. S198 has significant momentum in our Legislature with many Senators and Assembly persons Co-Sponsoring already. But it has not been voted out of any Committee yet.  Please talk to your colleagues in the Senate/Assembly about this bill and help it to move smoothly to passage. 

 

Governor Murphy has been calling climate change an existential threat to humanity. New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection has just released an action plan to address the specific problems that New Jersey is confronting called "Global Warming Response Act 80x50". However the DEP acknowledges that it will be a heavy lift to reach those goals.    

 

You can play an important role as my legislator in taking bold action to address the crisis we are confronting. Nothing should be more important than ensuring the health, safety, economy and environment of our state and its residents.  Please make the Fossil Fuel Divestment bill one of your priorities even in these very difficult times.
